— title: “Rocket Health Alternatives in India 2026: 6 Honest Options to Consider” slug: rocket-health-alternatives ” category: Online Therapy

By Sakshi Shah, Co-founder, GoodLives. GoodLives is one of the alternatives listed in this piece, so please read our placement in that light.

Last re-checked: October 2026. Prices and features change often, so we refresh this page every few months.

If you have been using Rocket Health or are looking at it and are not sure it is the right fit for therapy, this piece is for you. We will tell you plainly what Rocket Health is good at, where readers often get stuck with it, and six India-first alternatives worth considering in 2026.

Starting a therapy journey with a trusted online counselling platform

Who this comparison is for

  • You tried Rocket Health for therapy and it felt more like a medical consult than an ongoing therapy relationship.
  • You liked the 24 by 7 slot availability but the back-to-back consult shape made it hard to settle into deeper work.
  • You came for therapy and found yourself routed into psychiatry and prescriptions faster than you expected.
  • You want a therapist who sits in one chair with you for a few months, not a different name each time.
  • You are reading for a sibling, partner or parent who is new to therapy.

If you are in acute distress right now, please pause. Both are free and staffed by trained volunteers. Comparisons can wait.

What Rocket Health is, honestly

Rocket Health is the mental-health arm of a broader online healthtech platform in India. It offers therapy, psychiatry and medical consultations under one roof, with round-the-clock booking and an integrated prescription flow. For many readers, that integrated feel is exactly the appeal.

Three things it does genuinely well:

  • 24 by 7 availability. Few India-first platforms give you a real slot at 11 PM on a Sunday. Rocket Health does. If your work shift or caregiving pattern makes daytime therapy hard, this matters.
  • Integrated psychiatry and therapy on the same platform. If your presentation might need medication alongside therapy, Rocket Health lets you move between a therapist and a psychiatrist without re-telling your story from scratch. The medical confidence under one roof is real.
  • Clinical and medical rigour. Because Rocket Health operates as a healthcare platform, the standard operating patterns feel closer to a clinic than a wellness app. For readers who want that structure, this is a real strength.

Three honest gaps readers raise in reviews and in our own intake calls:

  • Medicalisation can feel heavy for plain therapy. When you come in for anxiety or burnout and the first flow nudges towards a psychiatric screening, it can feel like your experience is being turned into a diagnosis before you have had space to talk. Some readers find that reassuring. Others find it clinical in a way that keeps them from opening up.
  • Variable therapist experience depths. The therapist pool is a mix. Senior clinical psychologists and newer counsellors sit side by side, and the credential filter on first-time booking is not always obvious. Readers who care about RCI registration and years of practice often have to click through profiles carefully.
  • Transactional feel for ongoing therapy. Because therapy sits inside a larger consult-booking platform, the default experience feels more “consult” and less “ongoing relationship”. If you want the same therapist every Thursday at 7 for four months, you have to be deliberate about booking that way, and even then the surrounding flow is built for one-off medical visits.

None of this means Rocket Health is a bad platform. It means Rocket Health is a certain shape of platform, and that shape fits some readers and not others. If any of the three gaps above describes why you are reading this page, the alternatives below are worth your time.

The honest line nobody tells you

The platform is not the therapist. The platform is a booking layer, a video window, a prescription flow where it exists, and a payment system. The person on the other side is the therapist, and the fit between you and that person is almost everything.

A good therapist on a basic platform will help you more than an average therapist on a slick one. So when you compare Rocket Health with the options below, compare the therapists you can meet on each platform, not just the homepage copy and the app screenshots.

Red flags to spot on any platform

Any one of these is a reason to pause and ask more questions:

  • The therapist’s profile does not list an RCI number or a named supervisor. For clinical psychology work, this matters.
  • “Instant match” with a counsellor before any intake call or screening form.
  • Claims of an “AI therapist” or “AI counsellor” that can replace human care. AI tools can support therapy. They cannot practise clinical psychology in India.
  • Upfront packages of 10 or 20 sessions before you have met the therapist once.
  • No cancellation terms in writing, or a policy that keeps all of your money if you miss one session.
  • Pricing that only appears after you share your phone number.
  • Promises of a “cure”, a “fix” or a specific recovery timeline.
  • A therapy consult that pivots to a prescription without the therapist and the psychiatrist speaking to each other first.

Good platforms are usually boring about these things: clear credentials on each profile, a short intake step, pay-as-you-go or small packs, written cancellation terms, and a clear line between therapy and psychiatry.

Not sure if a medical-platform flow or a therapy-first flow fits you better? Start with a free 15-minute discovery call. No commitment, no package. Book a Session.

6 Rocket Health alternatives worth knowing

1. GoodLives

What it is: An India-first online therapy platform with RCI-registered clinical psychologists and supervised counsellors. Intake is a short form plus a free 15-minute discovery call before you are matched with a therapist. Sessions run on a secure video window, open-ended by default.

Who it fits best: Readers who want therapy to feel like therapy, not a medical consult. People who care about meeting the therapist before paying. Anyone who wants an open-ended relationship with one clinical psychologist rather than a consult-style flow with a rotating cast.

Credentials: All clinical psychologists on GoodLives are RCI-registered. Counsellors work under clinical supervision. Credentials appear on each therapist’s profile.

Modalities: Video sessions, 50 minutes. Chat and audio on request.

Fee range (as of October 2026): Current pricing lives on the booking page. We do not quote it in prose because it changes. Pricing is designed to sit within the mid-range band for RCI-registered clinical psychology in India.

Languages: English, Hindi and several regional languages depending on the therapist. The directory lets you filter by language.

Honest gap: We are not 24 by 7. Sessions sit in daytime and early-evening slots. We also do not run an in-house psychiatry team on the platform. If your presentation needs medication, we will refer you to a trusted psychiatrist and keep you with your therapist for the therapy side. For a one-roof medical flow, Rocket Health or Amaha remains the closer fit.

Where GoodLives fits better than Rocket Health: Therapy that is built as therapy, not as a medical consult. You meet the therapist before paying. The relationship is open-ended by default, so you can settle in. If what left you wanting more at Rocket Health was the clinical-feel and the back-to-back shape, this is what changes.

2. YourDost

What it is: One of the oldest India online counselling platforms, chat-first by history, with a broad directory of experts across career, relationships, parenting, academics and clinical categories.

Who it fits best: Readers whose college or employer already offers YourDost as a free benefit, those who want a chat-first entry rather than video, and anyone who wants to compare many profiles.

Credentials: A mixed pool. Some experts are RCI-registered clinical psychologists; others are counsellors and life coaches. Filter each profile’s listed credential before you book.

Modalities: Chat, audio and video.

Fee range (as of October 2026): Varies widely by expert. Chat-tier pricing is among the lower on this list; senior-expert video sits closer to mid-range.

Languages: English, Hindi and several regional languages.

Honest gap: The credential mix means variance in experience and depth between profiles. Some public reviews flag short sessions in the chat tier and occasional upselling pressure. For structured clinical work, you need to filter carefully.

Where YourDost fits better than Rocket Health: If your college or company offers it free, the first few sessions are already paid for. The directory is bigger if you want to shop profiles. For light support with cost as the main constraint, YourDost’s chat tier is cheaper than Rocket Health therapy, and it does not route you into a medical flow.

3. Amaha (ex-InnerHour)

Who it fits best: Readers who want integrated therapy and psychiatry under one roof, a mobile-app layer with mood logs and guided tracks, and a structured programme for a defined presentation.

Credentials: In-house therapists and psychiatrists, mostly RCI-registered on the clinical-psychology side. Credentials visible on profiles.

Modalities: Video sessions and integrated psychiatry; mood tracking and guided tracks in the Amaha app.

Fee range (as of October 2026): Mid to upper band for therapy, higher for senior clinicians and premium programmes. Free self-help app on its own.

Languages: English and Hindi primarily.

Honest gap: Price sits higher than Rocket Health for comparable therapy. The programme shape can feel over-engineered if what you want is open-ended therapy with one person.

Where Amaha fits better than Rocket Health: If what you valued most at Rocket Health was the integrated psychiatry and the clinical structure, but you wanted it to feel less like a consult platform, Amaha’s in-house therapist pool and programme shape are built for that. The app layer runs between sessions.

4. BetterLYF

What it is: A chat and voice-first online counselling platform with a lower price point and a focus on accessibility.

Who it fits best: Readers who find video calls too much to start with, who prefer written conversations, or who want a lower-cost entry into counselling.

Credentials: A mix of counsellors with different qualifications. Check each specific counsellor’s listed credential before booking.

Modalities: Chat, call and video.

Fee range (as of October 2026): Among the lower per-session fees on this list, especially on the chat tier.

Languages: English and Hindi primarily.

Honest gap: The lower price point partly reflects the credential mix. For clinical psychology work on serious presentations, confirm the counsellor is RCI-registered or ask who supervises them. The chat-first format is lighter on what therapists call “containment”.

Where BetterLYF fits better than Rocket Health: If the Rocket Health flow felt too medical and you want a lighter, chat-based first step, BetterLYF’s format can feel less daunting. It is also clearly cheaper. For deeper clinical work, both still require you to check credentials.

5. Mindtalk (by Cadabam’s)

What it is: Online and in-person therapy backed by Cadabam’s Hospitals in Bengaluru, with an in-house therapist model and structured programmes for conditions like anxiety, OCD, and child and adolescent care.

Who it fits best: Readers who want structured therapy with a hospital-group pathway behind them, those near a Cadabam’s physical centre, and anyone who may need to step up to in-person care or psychiatric admission later.

Credentials: Clinical psychologists and counsellors employed in-house. Hospital-group backing means clinical pathways are joined up with psychiatry and in-person care.

Modalities: Video, phone and in-person at centres.

Fee range (as of October 2026): Mid-range for therapy; higher-end programmes priced separately on the website.

Languages: English, Hindi, Kannada and others depending on therapist.

Honest gap: The in-house model means less variety in therapist style than open directories. If one therapist is not the right fit, you may find fewer “very different” options to switch to.

Where Mindtalk fits better than Rocket Health: For moderate to severe presentations where you may need in-person care, a day-programme or inpatient support later, a hospital-group pathway matters. Rocket Health is strong on round-the-clock telehealth. Mindtalk connects online therapy to a physical clinic you can walk into.

6. Mpower, Lissun and Fortis Mental Health (worth knowing)

These are mental-health arms of larger hospital or foundation brands, not standalone consumer apps.

  • Mpower is a well-known foundation and clinic chain with online counselling, structured programmes and a strong public-education presence.
  • Lissun focuses on structured programmes, including maternal mental health and child and adolescent care.
  • Fortis Mental Health connects you to psychiatrists and clinical psychologists through the Fortis Healthcare network, including inpatient care when needed.

Who they fit best: Readers who want the comfort of a known hospital or foundation brand, who want online therapy that can roll into in-person care at a specific city clinic, or who may need a joined-up pathway with inpatient support.

Fee range (as of October 2026): On the higher side, closer to private-clinic rates. Specific sub-specialties (child, trauma, perinatal) vary by city.

Where these fit better than Rocket Health: Clinical depth with in-person backup, hospital-grade pathway, and specialist sub-services (perinatal, child, trauma) that a consult-style telehealth platform does not run as separately. For complex or severe presentations, these have more fallback.

When a free helpline is enough

Not every heavy evening needs a paid session or a prescription. If what you need right now is one honest conversation with a trained ear, these free lines are India-first, confidential and staffed by trained volunteers:

Helplines are not a substitute for therapy or psychiatric care. They are a safe first step for one difficult night, before you decide which paid route fits you.

How to pick, based on your actual situation

You want 24 by 7 availability and integrated psychiatry under one roof: Stay with Rocket Health. This is the one place its shape beats most alternatives. Amaha is a close second if you can live with daytime slots.

You want therapy that feels like therapy, not a medical consult: GoodLives is built this way. Mindtalk and Amaha also lean more therapy-forward than a general healthtech platform.

You are dealing with anxiety or burnout and do not want to be routed into psychiatry first: GoodLives, YourDost (senior-clinician tier) and BetterLYF start with therapy and bring in psychiatry only when the therapist raises it. Mindtalk does this too for most presentations.

You want integrated psychiatry on the same platform: Rocket Health and Amaha are built for this. Mindtalk and Fortis offer therapy and psychiatry together with a hospital pathway.

You are dealing with trauma, PTSD, OCD, bipolar follow-up or complex grief: Insist on an RCI-registered clinical psychologist with real experience in that area. GoodLives, Amaha, Mindtalk and Fortis publish credentials clearly. Ask the therapist directly how many clients they have seen with your presenting issue.

You want Hindi or a regional language: GoodLives, YourDost and Mindtalk have strong regional-language coverage. Filter the directory by language before booking.

You want it to be insurance claimable: Check your insurer’s outpatient mental-health benefit under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017. Most insurers that reimburse require an RCI-registered clinical psychologist or an MBBS or MD psychiatrist. Platforms whose counsellors are not RCI-registered may not qualify.

You are a student on a tight budget: Rocket Health’s premium tiers are rarely the right fit here. If your college offers YourDost as a benefit, use that. Beyond it, BetterLYF’s chat tier and sliding-support cases on GoodLives are the two routes we have seen work.

You want to meet the therapist before you pay: GoodLives offers a free 15-minute discovery call. This single feature removes the biggest barrier for first-timers, and it is rare on consult-style platforms.

(Credential mix and features are reported from each vendor’s own pages as of October 2026. Always re-check before you book.)

What about BetterHelp and Talkspace?

They come up in every search, so it is worth saying plainly: they are not built for India.

  • No RCI. BetterHelp and Talkspace credential their therapists against US and other Western licensing boards, not India’s RCI. For most Indian clients, this means your therapist is not registered to practise clinical psychology in India.
  • Pricing in USD. Weekly or monthly subscriptions can work out to about Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 a month or more, usually above Rocket Health and well above most other India-first platforms.
  • Cultural distance. Caste, joint-family dynamics, arranged-marriage context, workplace hierarchies, gender expectations: these shape how distress shows up in India, and a therapist with no India training may frame them in ways that do not quite land.
  • Insurance. Indian health insurance that reimburses outpatient mental-health sessions usually requires an India-licensed professional.

If you are an Indian citizen living in India, we would almost always point you to an India-first platform. If you are a non-resident Indian living in a country where BetterHelp or Talkspace operates, that is a different question, and they may fit.

  • Clinical psychology practice in India is regulated by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). An RCI number on a therapist’s profile is verifiable on the RCI public register.
  • Mental-health rights in India are set by the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, including the right to confidentiality and the right to community-based care.
  • Your personal and session data is covered by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA). You have the right to know how your data is stored, used and shared.
  • Prescriptions in India are governed by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and NMC rules. A valid prescription needs a registered medical practitioner. Therapists do not prescribe; psychiatrists do.
  • This article is information, not medical advice. For a clinical opinion, speak to a licensed professional.

Our honest closing line

No alternative here is “the best for everyone”. Rocket Health works for a lot of readers, especially those who want integrated psychiatry and therapy under one roof with round-the-clock slot availability. The six options above work better for other readers, depending on what you actually need: a therapy-first flow, an open-ended relationship with one person, a hospital pathway, a lower price point, a chat-first entry, or a free helpline tonight.

No alternative replaces Rocket Health for someone who wants medical confidence under one roof. Different shapes serve different needs, and the question is which shape fits you.

If you have been on Rocket Health and want something different, pick the platform where you can meet a therapist before you pay, see credentials clearly, and leave if the fit is not right. That is the whole point of all of this.

If you would like to start with us, book a free 15-minute discovery call on the GoodLives booking page. If a different platform on this list fits you better based on what you have read, we would still rather you start somewhere than keep comparing.
