What this blog includes
- Why your city matters less for online therapy than it used to
- Links to 20 city pages, sorted by region
- When online works well, and when in person is the better choice
It is late. You have typed “therapist in Patna” or “counsellor in Udaipur” more than once tonight. A few names came up. Most had no slots, no reply, or no page at all.
That gap is real. You did not search the wrong way.
GoodLives is trusted by 500K+ people, and we hold a 5 Google rating. Our therapists meet you online, in Hindi or English. Your PIN code does not decide who you can talk to.
This page is the map. Find your city, read one short line, and open its page.
Does your city change what online therapy can do for you?
No, not for the session itself. A session with a verified psychologist works the same in Jodhpur as it does in Mumbai. What matters more is your language, your hours, and a quiet place to talk. Your city shapes your day. It does not shape the care you get.
You might be worried that a therapist in another city will not get your life. The long ride to work. The aunt who asks about marriage at every wedding. The town where everyone knows your father.
A good therapist asks about these things. You can tell them, in your own words, what life is like where you live.
Example: Picture a young teacher in Ranchi. The one clinic she trusts is far across town. A call from her own room, after dinner, is the slot she can keep.
In short: pick a therapist for their language and their fit with your life. Where they sit matters far less.
Why has it been so hard to find a psychologist near you?
The honest answer is that India has too few trained people, and they are not spread evenly. If you searched your town’s name and found almost nothing, you have probably hit the same wall as many others. It was never your fault, and it was not bad luck.
Big number 0.75 per 100,000 India has 0.75 psychiatrists per 100,000 people. The WHO, the world health body, suggests at least 3. Source: Indian Journal of Psychiatry, 2019, cited by the Press Information Bureau, November 2025
Big number 70% to 92% The share of people with mental disorders in India who do not get proper treatment, due to lack of awareness, social stigma, and a shortage of professionals. Source: NIMHANS survey, 2015 to 2016, cited by the Press Information Bureau

A 2024 study mapped psychiatrists across Madhya Pradesh. It notes that many metro cities in India have a surplus of doctors and specialists, while the spread to small places is uneven (Sutar and others, 2024).
So if you live far from a metro, the search can feel lonely. There is a Hindi word for it, akelaapan (loneliness).
The law is on your side. The Mental Healthcare Act 2017 gives every person a right to mental healthcare from services run or funded by the government.
In short: the shortage is real and it has been measured. Online sessions do not fix it for the country, but they can put a trained person on your screen without a long trip.
How does this online therapy India city guide work?
Each city below has its own short page on GoodLives. It covers what online therapy looks like for people in that city, in plain words. This guide sits above those pages. It also links up to our main page on therapy across India. That page has the full set of steps.
Want the whole picture first? Our page on online therapy in India explains how sessions work and how to book. Then come back here for your city.
If your city is not on the list yet, nothing changes. The same therapists and the same languages are open to you from any town in India.
In short: use the city page for local context and the main page for the steps. You only need one of them to begin.
Which cities have their own page?
Twenty cities have their own GoodLives page so far, grouped below by region. Each page covers online sessions in Hindi and English. Find your city, tap its name, and you will land on a page written for people who live there, not for a metro reader.
- Punjab and Chandigarh: Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Amritsar.

We have not put a fee next to each city. Fees depend on a therapist’s training, not on where you live.
In short: if your city is here, open its page. If it is not, the main India page works just as well.
When does online work well, and when is in person better?
Online sessions suit many day to day concerns. Think stress, worry, low mood, or trouble at home or work. They are not the right fit for all. Some needs call for a person in the same room, or a doctor close by. Here is how to tell which side you are on.
In short: choose online for reach, language, and privacy. Choose in person when your health, your safety, or a young child comes first.
What is a first session like, and what will it cost?
Your first session is a 50-minute online call with a verified psychologist, in Hindi, English, or another Indian language. You talk about what brought you here. The therapist listens and asks questions. Then you both decide if you want to meet again. Nothing is fixed after one call.
You don’t have to know what to say. “I don’t know where to start” is a fine first line.
GoodLives often matches you with a verified psychologist in your language within 24 hours. Sessions are confidential. You can join from a parked car, a terrace, or a room with the door shut.
One session will not fix months of strain, and no honest therapist will promise that. A breathing app can calm a hard evening. A therapist works with you on why the evenings keep getting hard.
On cost, we don’t quote session prices on this blog. Fees depend on the therapist’s training. Therapy also takes time, often weeks, and it is fair to weigh that before you start.
In short: a first session is a talk, not a contract. If it does not feel right, you can stop after one.
