— title: “Mindtalk Alternatives in India 2026: 7 Honest Options to Consider” slug: mindtalk-alternatives ” category: Online Therapy
By Sakshi Shah, Co-founder, GoodLives. GoodLives is one of the alternatives listed in this piece, so please read our placement in that light.
Last re-checked: November 2026. Prices and features change often, so we refresh this page every few months.
If you have been looking at Mindtalk (the online therapy arm of Cadabam’s Group) and are not sure it is the right fit, this piece is for you. We will tell you plainly what Mindtalk is good at, where readers often get stuck with it, and seven India-first alternatives worth considering in 2026.

Who this comparison is for
- You looked at Mindtalk and liked the clinical depth, but the pricing felt heavy.
- You live outside Bengaluru and want online therapy that does not assume you can drive to a city clinic.
- You want therapy in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali or another regional language, and the directory felt English-first.
- The platform felt a bit “hospital” when all you wanted was to talk to someone warm.
- You are reading for a sibling, partner or parent who is new to therapy.
A note before we go further: if you are in acute distress right now, please pause. Both are staffed by trained volunteers. Comparisons can wait a few hours.
What Mindtalk is, honestly
Mindtalk is the direct-to-consumer online and in-person therapy service from the Cadabam’s Group, one of India’s oldest and most respected mental-health hospital groups, headquartered in Bengaluru. Cadabam’s has been running inpatient and outpatient mental-health care since 1992, so what you are buying when you book on Mindtalk is a therapy session with a therapist who sits inside a serious hospital system.
Three things it does genuinely well:
- Hospital-grade clinical rigour. Mindtalk’s clinical psychologists and counsellors are employed in-house with supervision baked in. For moderate to severe presentations, that supervision line matters more than most consumer-friendly platforms admit.
- A real inpatient pathway behind the online layer. If someone needs step-up care, a day programme or inpatient admission, Cadabam’s can admit them. Very few India-first online platforms have this honestly.
- Strong psychiatry integration. Therapy and psychiatry sit under one roof. If medication needs to be part of care, you do not have to start over with a stranger.
Three honest gaps readers raise in reviews and in our own intake calls:
- Premium pricing for a hospital-grade platform. Mindtalk sits on the higher end of India therapy pricing. For a student, a young professional or someone paying out of pocket, that cost adds up quickly.
- Metro-centric availability for in-person care. The in-person pathway is strongest in Bengaluru, with limited presence in a few other cities. If you are in a Tier 2 or 3 town and the hospital pathway was the part that attracted you, that part does not travel.
- Can feel clinical for someone who just wants to talk. The brand reads “mental health hospital”, which is a good thing when care is complex. For a first-timer who just needs an honest conversation about work stress or a breakup, the experience can feel heavier than they expected.
None of this means Mindtalk is a bad platform. It means Mindtalk is a certain shape of platform, and that shape fits some readers very well and others less so. If any of the three gaps above describes why you are reading this page, the alternatives below are worth your time.
The honest line nobody tells you
The platform is not the therapist. The platform is a booking layer, a video window and a payment system. The person on the other side is the therapist, and the fit between you and that person is almost everything.
A good therapist on a simpler platform will help you more than an average therapist on a hospital-branded one. So when you compare Mindtalk with the options below, compare the therapists you can meet on each platform, not just the homepage copy and the brand weight.
Red flags to spot on any platform
Any one of these is a reason to pause and ask more questions:
- The therapist’s profile does not list an RCI number or a named supervisor. For clinical psychology work in India, this matters.
- “Instant match” with a counsellor before any intake call or screening form.
- Claims of an “AI therapist” or “AI counsellor” that can replace human care. AI tools can support therapy. They cannot practise clinical psychology in India.
- Upfront packages of 10 or 20 sessions before you have met the therapist once.
- No cancellation terms in writing, or a policy that keeps all of your money if you miss one session.
- Pricing that only appears after you share your phone number.
- Promises of a “cure”, a “fix” or a specific recovery timeline.
Good platforms are usually boring about these things: clear credentials on each profile, a short intake step, pay-as-you-go or small packs, and written cancellation terms.
Not sure if a hospital-group platform or a lighter online therapy is the right fit for you? Start with a free 15-minute discovery call. No commitment, no package. Book a Session.
7 Mindtalk alternatives worth knowing
1. GoodLives
What it is: An India-first online therapy platform with RCI-registered clinical psychologists and supervised counsellors. Intake is a short form plus a free 15-minute discovery call before you are matched with a therapist. Sessions run on a secure video window, open-ended by default.
Who it fits best: Readers who want the same clinical rigour as Mindtalk but on an online-first platform that is affordable and pan-India, people who care about RCI credentialing, and anyone who prefers to meet a therapist before paying.
Credentials: All clinical psychologists on GoodLives are RCI-registered. Counsellors work under clinical supervision. Credentials appear on each therapist’s profile.
Modalities: Video sessions, 50 minutes. Chat and audio on request.
Fee range (as of November 2026): Current pricing lives on the booking page. We do not quote it in prose because it changes. Pricing is designed to sit within the mid-range band for RCI-registered clinical psychology in India, usually lower than Mindtalk’s standard tiers.
Languages: English, Hindi and several regional languages depending on the therapist. The directory lets you filter by language.
Honest gap: We do not have an inpatient pathway. If a reader needs hospital admission, a day programme or step-up care, GoodLives is not the right fit, and we will say so and refer them. Cadabam’s (through Mindtalk), NIMHANS and Fortis Mental Health are the right places for inpatient care. We are also lighter on structured programmes than Amaha and do not run an in-house psychiatry team.
Where GoodLives fits better than Mindtalk: You meet the therapist before paying. The clinical pool is RCI-first and the fee sits in a lower band than Mindtalk’s standard pricing. You can book from Jaipur, Guwahati or Kochi and get a therapist in your language without worrying whether a city clinic is reachable. If the Mindtalk price or the “hospital” feel is what pushed you off, this is what changes.
2. YourDost
What it is: One of the oldest India online counselling platforms, chat-first by history, with a broad directory of experts across career, relationships, parenting, academics and clinical categories.
Who it fits best: Readers whose college or employer already offers YourDost as a free benefit, those who want a chat-first entry rather than video, and anyone who wants to compare many profiles.
Credentials: A mixed pool. Some experts are RCI-registered clinical psychologists; others are counsellors and life coaches. Filter each profile’s listed credential before you book.
Modalities: Chat, audio and video.
Fee range (as of November 2026): Varies widely by expert. Chat-tier pricing is among the lower on this list; senior-expert video sits closer to mid-range.
Languages: English, Hindi and several regional languages.
Honest gap: The credential mix means variance in experience and depth between profiles. Some public reviews flag short sessions in the chat tier. For moderate to severe clinical work, you need to filter the directory carefully and insist on RCI credentials.
Where YourDost fits better than Mindtalk: If your college or company offers it free, the first few sessions are already paid for. The directory is bigger if you want to shop profiles. For light support with cost as the main constraint, YourDost’s chat tier is far cheaper than a Mindtalk clinical session.
3. Amaha (formerly InnerHour)
What it is: One of India’s oldest clinical mental-health companies. Started as a self-help app with mood tracking, now a full service with therapy, psychiatry and structured programmes for anxiety, depression, OCD and bipolar.
Who it fits best: Readers who want a defined track (not just open-ended therapy), who like having mood logs and daily app content between sessions, and who want integrated psychiatry under one roof without a hospital pathway.
Credentials: Clinical psychologists and psychiatrists are employed in-house. RCI-registered where applicable. Credentials visible on profiles.
Modalities: Video, mobile app with daily tools, integrated psychiatry.
Fee range (as of November 2026): Upper end of India therapy pricing, especially for senior clinicians and premium programmes. Broadly comparable to Mindtalk for comparable programmes.
Honest gap: The app layer feels like homework for some readers. Programme shape may not fit open-ended therapy needs. On price, Amaha is not meaningfully cheaper than Mindtalk, so this swap is about shape, not cost.
Where Amaha fits better than Mindtalk: If what you wanted was a structured programme with daily content and in-app tools between sessions, Amaha is further along than Mindtalk. The integrated psychiatry on Amaha is designed telehealth-first, which can feel smoother than a hospital-group flow for people who do not need in-person backup.
4. BetterLYF
What it is: A chat and voice-first online counselling platform with a lower price point and a focus on accessibility.
Who it fits best: Readers who find video calls too much to start with, who prefer written conversations, or who want a lower-cost entry into counselling.
Credentials: A mix of counsellors with different qualifications. Check each specific counsellor’s listed credential before booking.
Modalities: Chat, call and video.
Fee range (as of November 2026): Among the lower per-session fees on this list, especially on the chat tier. Clearly cheaper than Mindtalk.
Languages: English and Hindi primarily.
Honest gap: The lower price point partly reflects the credential mix. For clinical psychology work on serious presentations, confirm the counsellor is RCI-registered or ask who supervises them. The chat-first format is lighter on what therapists call “containment”.
Where BetterLYF fits better than Mindtalk: If what pushed you off Mindtalk was the price, BetterLYF is clearly cheaper. If you want a chat-based first step before you commit to video, this format can feel less daunting. For deeper clinical work, both still require you to check credentials carefully.
5. Rocket Health
What it is: A general online healthcare platform in India that offers therapy and psychiatry alongside other medical consultations, with round-the-clock booking.
Who it fits best: Readers who already use Rocket Health for other medical consults, who want 24 by 7 availability, or who want psychiatry to be as easy to book as a GP consult.
Credentials: Clinical psychologists, counsellors and psychiatrists are listed, with credentials on profiles. Check each professional’s qualifications before booking.
Modalities: Chat, audio and video; prescriptions available through psychiatry consults.
Fee range (as of November 2026): Varies by professional and session type. Published on the booking flow. Often lower than Mindtalk for comparable psychiatry consults.
Languages: English and Hindi, with others depending on the professional.
Honest gap: Because therapy sits inside a larger medical platform, the default experience feels more “consult” and less “ongoing relationship”. If you want long therapy with one person, be deliberate about booking the same therapist every week.
Where Rocket Health fits better than Mindtalk: 24 by 7 slot availability and psychiatry that is easy to book without going through a programme or hospital flow. If what you valued most about Mindtalk was the integrated psychiatry, Rocket Health gives you a similar one-roof flow at often lower cost, as long as you do not need an inpatient pathway behind it.
6. NIMHANS, Tele-MANAS and government OPDs
What they are: The honest free pathway nobody mentions in listicles.
- NIMHANS (Bengaluru) runs one of the largest public mental-health OPDs in Asia, with child, adolescent, adult, geriatric, addiction and neuropsychology services.
- It is free.
- AIIMS and most state medical colleges run psychiatry OPDs at a token fee.
- District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) clinics operate in most districts under state health departments.
Credentials: Teaching-hospital psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and psychiatric social workers, often among the most senior in the country.
Honest gap: Waiting times can be long. The OPD experience is more clinical and less private than a paid platform. Follow-up slots may be days or weeks apart. Not every DMHP clinic is staffed to the same standard, especially in smaller towns.
Where this pathway fits better than Mindtalk: The clinical seniority at NIMHANS and major AIIMS centres is among the highest in India, and the cost is near-free. For readers who want hospital-grade care without paying hospital-grade prices, this is the honest route.
7. Mpower, Lissun and Fortis Mental Health
What they are: The mental-health arms of larger hospital or foundation brands, closer in shape to Mindtalk than most online-first platforms.
- Mpower is a well-known foundation and clinic chain with online counselling, structured programmes and a strong public-education presence.
- Lissun focuses on structured programmes, including maternal mental health, perinatal care, and child and adolescent care.
- Fortis Mental Health connects you to psychiatrists and clinical psychologists through the Fortis Healthcare network, including inpatient care when needed.
Who they fit best: Readers who liked the hospital-group feel of Mindtalk but want a different city base, a specific sub-specialty (perinatal, child, trauma) or a different clinical culture.
Credentials: RCI-registered clinical psychologists and MBBS or MD psychiatrists, often with inpatient capability.
Fee range (as of November 2026): On the higher side, closer to private-clinic rates. Specific sub-specialties (child, trauma, perinatal) vary by city. Broadly comparable to Mindtalk’s standard tiers.
Where these fit better than Mindtalk: If you need a city other than Bengaluru for in-person backup, Fortis has a wider urban footprint. For perinatal mental health, Lissun is more specialised. Mpower is strong on structured programmes with a public-health voice. For most readers who liked Mindtalk’s shape but want a different brand or city, one of these three is the closest match.
When a free helpline is enough
Not every heavy evening needs a paid session or a programme. If what you need right now is one honest conversation with a trained ear, these free lines are India-first, confidential and staffed by trained volunteers:
Helplines are not a substitute for therapy or a structured programme. They are a safe first step for one difficult night, before you decide which paid route fits you.
Want help picking? Share two or three lines about what you are going through, and we will tell you honestly whether GoodLives fits or whether another platform on this list would be better for you. Book a Session.
How to pick, based on your actual situation
You may need inpatient care, a day programme or step-up psychiatric support: Stay with Mindtalk or move to Fortis Mental Health, Mpower or your nearest NIMHANS or AIIMS centre. No online-only platform replaces a real inpatient pathway. If this is why you were on Mindtalk in the first place, keep that part.
You want the same clinical rigour as Mindtalk, but online, affordable and pan-India: GoodLives is built this way. RCI-registered clinical psychologists, verified credentials on profiles, free 15-minute discovery call, no need to be near a city clinic.
You want integrated psychiatry at a lower price than Mindtalk: Rocket Health is often the closest fit. Amaha also does this but sits closer to Mindtalk on price.
If your college offers YourDost, use that first. BetterLYF’s chat tier is a paid middle option.
Filter the directory by language before booking.
You are dealing with trauma, PTSD, OCD, bipolar follow-up or complex grief: Insist on an RCI-registered clinical psychologist with real experience in that area. GoodLives, Amaha, Mindtalk, Fortis and NIMHANS publish credentials clearly. Ask the therapist directly how many clients they have seen with your presenting issue.
You want insurance to pay for sessions: Check your insurer’s outpatient mental-health benefit under the Mental Healthcare Act 2017. Most insurers that reimburse require an RCI-registered clinical psychologist or an MBBS or MD psychiatrist. Hospital-group platforms (Mindtalk, Fortis, Mpower) and GoodLives are usually the easiest to claim against.
You want to meet the therapist before you pay: GoodLives offers a free 15-minute discovery call. Some Mindtalk flows include a screening step, too. This single feature removes the biggest barrier for first-timers.

What about BetterHelp and Talkspace?
They come up in every search, so it is worth saying plainly: they are not built for India.
- No RCI. BetterHelp and Talkspace credential their therapists against US and other Western licensing boards, not India’s RCI. For most Indian clients, this means your therapist is not registered to practise clinical psychology in India.
- Pricing in USD. Weekly or monthly subscriptions can work out to about Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 a month or more, usually well above Mindtalk’s standard tiers and far above most other India-first platforms.
- Cultural distance. Caste, joint-family dynamics, arranged-marriage context, workplace hierarchies, gender expectations: these shape how distress shows up in India, and a therapist with no India training may frame them in ways that do not quite land.
- Insurance. Indian health insurance that reimburses outpatient mental-health sessions usually requires an India-licensed professional.
If you are an Indian citizen living in India, we would almost always point you to an India-first platform. If you are a non-resident Indian living in a country where BetterHelp or Talkspace operates, that is a different question, and they may fit.
Legal and privacy, briefly
- Clinical psychology practice in India is regulated by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). An RCI number on a therapist’s profile is verifiable on the RCI public register.
- Mental-health rights in India are set by the Mental Healthcare Act 2017, including the right to confidentiality and the right to community-based care.
- Your personal and session data is covered by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA). You have the right to know how your data is stored, used and shared.
- This article is information, not medical advice. For a clinical opinion, speak to a licensed professional.
Our honest closing line
No alternative here is “the best for everyone”. Mindtalk works for a lot of readers, especially those who want hospital-grade clinical rigour and the option of in-person or inpatient care through the Cadabam’s system. The seven options above work better for other readers, depending on what you actually need: the same rigour online and affordable, a lower price point, a chat-first entry, a public-hospital pathway, or just a free helpline tonight.
No alternative on this list replaces Mindtalk for someone who needs inpatient care. If that is your situation, stay with the Cadabam’s pathway or move to another hospital-group option like Fortis, Mpower or your nearest tertiary government centre. That is the one honest line we want to leave you with.
If you want online therapy with the same clinical rigour but a lighter, warmer and more affordable flow, pick the platform where you can meet a therapist before you pay, see credentials clearly, and leave if the fit is not right. That is the whole point of all of this.
If you would like to start with us, book a free 15-minute discovery call on the GoodLives booking page. If a different platform on this list fits you better based on what you have read, we would still rather you start somewhere than keep comparing.
